New Banhammer

Posted by: A Baked Grunt on 01/07/2009 @ 04:50am

A shiny new banhammer sits next to me right now, waiting to be put to the test. It's shiny luster reflecting my face; I can easily see myself coming to love this new hammer.

After the site was "abused" by a kid who's now banned forever, I thought I might introduce a new ban. I worked well into my Australian afternoon and night to bring you the Stat Signatures Ban!

Like the name suggests, we can now ban you from using our Halo 3 stat signatures system. We have the power to ban individual gamertags and IP addresses.

Q: How do I get a signatures ban?
A: You can be signature banned for abusing the signature system by doing something such as recaching your signatures over and over again repeatedly, thus using precious server resources. We also throw a free signatures ban in with any site bans (but not forum bans, so don't worry).

Q: So, what happens if the new banhammer hits me?
A: If you have a gamertag ban, you will not be able to access your signatures page or recache your signatures. If you have an IP address ban, you will not be able to access any part of the signatures page on HaloTech.

Q: If I get banned can I still use GEE-MC and all the other pages?
A: Yes. The signatures ban will only stop you from using the signatures pages.

Q: How do I know if I'm banned?
A: If you can see your signatures on the signatures page, you're fine.

If your gamertag gets blacklisted from the signatures system all of your signatures will be replaced with this image:

If you see anyone with that image as their forum signature, it means that they were blacklisted. Get over it.

To wrap this up, I might point out that while the signature bans are fierce and permanent, they will hardly ever be used. Maybe I won't get to love this new banhammer after all. sad.gif

Rob Retires

Posted by: A Baked Grunt on 01/04/2009 @ 04:31pm

Rob, otherwise known as RADICAL R0B, was elected to be a member of the HaloTech Junior Staff late last year. The HaloTech Staff have decided that we no longer need anyone working in the position of "Junior Advertiser" and informed Rob of our decision.

Rob has become a member of the honorary "Retired Staff" group and shall always remain an honorable and trusted member of HaloTech.

"Rob set an exceptional example as a HaloTech VIP and his standards were always high (especially for spelling & grammar - he even caught me out, which is how he became a VIP! wink.gif) and Rob's support for HaloTech, the HaloTech Staff, and the Halo Community was outstanding.

As a token of our appreciation, we have offered Rob the honorary position of "Retired Staff" on the forums. As a member of the "Retired Staff" group, Rob will always be honored as a trusted and important member of HaloTech."

Here is our goodbye message to Rob, wishing him a safe transition back to a regular member:

"On behalf of every HaloTech Staff, retired staff and community member, I would like to thank you for everything that you have done for HaloTech and for everything that you have brought to the community. I would also like to wish you a very happy new year, and we all hope that you had a very joyful and enjoyful Christmas and a wonderful holiday!"

Thank you Rob, and thanks for being a part of the team.
