• Welcome, New Xbox 360?

Yup, Microsoft announced at the E3 Press conference Monday about the new Xbox 360. From the research I've done, It seems no unique name was giving to this console, though I guess it's safe to assume that the console would be called Xbox 360 Slim. This new Xbox 360 console will be quieter, smaller, and thinner than the Xbox 360.

      Black > White > Black

If you noticed, because I have, the new Xbox 360 went back to its original color, black.

      20GB > 250GB
Don't fear that the new Xbox 360 will raise, because knowing our good old Microsoft, they would raise the price for 6 months and lower it. The price will remain the same as, I believe, the elite, of $229. The storage is internal, but from the recent video on the Xbox 360 dashboard, it looks like it's almost in the back? >.< Comments can update this one

      More vents, less crashes?

The top of the Xbox is ventilated, as well as the sides. Though is the motherboard the same crap?

      Built-in WiFi!
Save the space, the wifi adapter is now built-in!

      Like, 4 USB ports?
As much as an article on the subject, this is also a discussion, so don't get on my ass if I'm wrong xD Though from the video it looked like there was 4 USB ports in the back, though non in the front. ... could be hidden...

      Quieter? God, lets hope so.
Sometimes I run into these situations where I need to keep my Xbox on during the night and have to fall asleep to the convenient jet noise blazing in the background. Though, I'm not one to bitch. So, I really don't care

      Add to the discussion! ^_^

The above addition, Project Natal, will not be included. Though released in November 2010 for, if my memory serves me right, somewhere around $229.

I think I'm actually gonna get it, I've needed a new xbox for a while now because mines got the Open Tray error, and I'm supposed to be getting one this weekend, so hopefully I'll get this baby! Unfortunately though it looks like the old hard drive wont be compatible with this one .

I'm defiantly getting one, my current Xbox is on its last leg. Looks like we should be able to transfer our old content to the new console with the Hard Drive Transfer Kit, seen here --> http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/transfer/default.htm , I really hope so because if not then Microsoft looked over a major concern people probably have.

Old Hard Drives I think won't be compatible, though the transfer kit is free. When I upgraded my storage on my Xbox 360, Microsoft got trigger happy with the ship button, I guess, because they ended up sending me 4 separate shipments of transfer kits!

Please correct me if i'm wrong on any of these points thanks

Form Factor: Sleek, lean and gloss black finish with chrome accents. Place vertically or horizontally in any living room entertainment center.

Really changes nothing for me. Size is not an issue, and im not staring at my Xbox im staring at my TV while im playing. The aesthetics of the console are irrelivant.

Touch Sensitive Buttons: Turn the Xbox 360 video game system on/off and eject a disc with the swipe of a finger.

I use my controller to turn the console on and off. I'm too lazy to get up, and the comfort of having two Xboxs allows me to have the least movement possible

Whisper Quiet: Whether you're playing a DVD disc or from the hard drive, or navigating the dashboard, with the all-new and much quieter Xbox 360, the only noise you'll hear is your own laughing, cheering and playing.

I honestly dont hear my two current 360s over the noise of my music and game audio. I have never had an issue with the sound at any of my friends places or mine

Wi-Fi: Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi for fast, easy connection to your friends and entertainment on Xbox LIVE.

In my opinion completely unreliable for online gaming, wired is def the way to go. Distance is another issue though, I simply run my Xbox LIVE through my electrical wires using a special jack.

Hard Drive: 250GB internal, swappable hard drive for even more storage. To access, remove the bottom panel by pushing the small tab toward the front of the console.

Honestly doesn't change the situation for me. On my 20GB HDD that I have had since 2006 I am using 9GB only, any any extra media can be stored on external drives. It's not really practical to use the 360 HDD when torrents to use with larger external HDDs

Kinect-Ready: Custom Kinect port on the back of the console that directly hooks up to the Kinect sensor for controller-free fun.

Won't buy Kinect, as it is completely impractical for Shooters and Real Time Strategies. I'm not a fan of sports games as well, which will most likely be the target of Kinect.

USB Slots: Five USB ports; three in the back of the console and two in the front for easy plug and play.

Who uses all three USB ports on their console anyways? Nobody uses or sells wired controllers anymore, it is unlikely that you will be using three forms of external memory.

        AV Connections:

AV Cable included for standard definition TV connnection.
HDMI port for high definition TV connection.
Optical Audio out port integrated on back of console for AV system connection.

They should include an HDMI cable with system or at least the HDTV Component Cables.

Power Supply: Smaller and more efficient. Xbox 360 250GB and Xbox 360 Original power supplies are not interchangeable.

I understand the efficiency and size upgrades but making it not interchangeable is a large mistake. It makes no sense why they would change the port.

Wireless Controller: The award-winning Xbox 360 Wireless Controller matches the console in all black with color-matched thumsticks and directional pad with a touch of gloss and chrome to complete the look.

Nobody is jizzing in their pants at the controller, only the game that they're playing. Essentially the exact same thing.

Backwards Compatible. Your favorite accessories and games will work with Xbox 360 250GB. (Xbox 360 External Hard Drives and Memory Units are not compatible.)

Dont know why they would even mention this, if it didn't have this feature I would cease to respect Microsoft as a company. Taking away support for memory units was a mistake, because I dont believe that the overpriced transfer cables can be used with them

Accessories. Customize your Xbox 360 250GB with matching black accessories, including favorites such as Controllers, Wireless Headset, Chatpad, Quick Charge and Play & Charge Kits and more. Get a look at a few of these today.

I really have nothing to say to this.

        Key Internal Components Changes:

Fan: Moved from two small fans to one larger fan for improved acoustics.
Chipset: 45 nanometer and integrated CPU and GPU.
        Wi-Fi: Integrated wireless capability.

Fan: I can see how this affects some people but doesn't matter to me personally.
Chipset: Not too interested in this but I can understand why this is a good thing
        Wi-Fi: Crap. That is all.

I will not be even looking at this new 360, but I will be interested to see Kinect, and its compatability with the original 360

*Uses a wired controller* I happen to use both of my usb ports on my current xbox, 1 for my wired controller and the other for my zune or flash drive. I'm glad you only use 9gb of your HDD, unfortunately I use around 19gb of mine so I really need to upgrade. The transfer kit comes free with the new Xbox so that is one less thing for me to worry about purchasing.

This is how I see it.

        1) Anyone would have to be a dumbass to purchase a transfer kit. Transfer kits were/are free, you just need to do the paperwork and send it into Microsoft. I did it, all you need to do is print out form > put serial number, name, address, etc. > send in > get one.

        2) I currently already have a 250GB Hard Drive, I'm someone who needs space, lol.

        3) My fan is loud. In my small little room with all my computer equipment (everything running), my xbox is yet the loudest. I wish I had a better location to BLAST my audio or buy a $200 dollar pair of ears (headset).

        4) My home is a network, wires are overrated. :P I think I'm pro enough that I don't need to be connected to my router to boost and what not people do these days to get host and win. Even my main desktop is wireless, and my connection is GREAT!

Thats my two cents on the subject matter. Everyone has there own view and housing situation. Wireless and quiet seem to be the best for me.

Personally, its shouldn't be as expensive as $299

If you already have, like, two controllers, an xbox 360, adapter, and what not to trade in... then the price will go down...

though if you dont have crap to trade in, dont get it, unless u has $$$
