Hold onto your frags as the the news has finally arrived that Halo 4 will be release November 6, 2012. This is a big relief to many of us as Reach was a major flop, in both game style and game play. Myself and my fellow competitive gamers have high hopes for Halo 4. With the BR coming back and hopefully most of the additional garbage that was integrated into Reach being left ...

Duke Nukem returned this week, and is basically obsolete. Now, in honor of the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary remake, 343 Industries is considering resurrecting another long-dead Duke: the hulking, maligned original Xbox controller.

A promotion offering Microsoft Points, 48-hour Xbox Live passes, and in-game props could have cost Microsoft more than it bargained for last weekend after Xbox Live users discovered that they could generate hundreds of working codes and redeem thousands of points. Most users exploiting the flaw were interested in the Microsoft Points: each code was worth 160 ...

Microsoft's Kinect has been a runaway success, selling 8 million units worldwide since launch. At CES, the company announced its next step in taking over your living room in strange and interesting ways. Say hello to Avatar Kinect, a value-added feature for Xbox Live Gold subscribers that allows Kinect owners to interact with their friends and family using their avatars, motion control, and virtual chat rooms.
There's a video of what that will entail, so give it a watch.

The ability to control your Avatar's facial expressions may not be compelling when it comes to chat, but it does show an impressive level of control that can be brought to games and other experiences. While we doubt gamers will be filming virtual talk shows in large numbers any time soon, it's nice to see the company stretching what is possible with the Kinect hardware. Adding interactive elements to these sets would be an easy way to create online quiz shows, or even sporting events.
It may look hokey now, but if you think of this as a first step and not a destination... things get a little more positive.

The "Xbox Live Rewards" program tested over a year ago is now a real thing. The website for the US/UK-only loyalty program is now live, and you can sign up and check out the rewards.

It's kind of like Club Nintendo, except instead of fans and tote bags, you get Microsoft Points and Microsoft Points. The bonuses range from 10 MSP for renewing a one-month membership, all the way to 400 for buying or renewing a family plan. You can also get 100 points for activating Netflix, unspecified bonuses for buying certain things on Marketplace, and an occasional 20 points for taking surveys. Microsoft also promises "cool prizes" in promotions.

As Club Nintendo users know, there is basically no downside to a loyalty program like this. You do the stuff you were going to do anyway, and then someone gives you free stuff periodically.

Microsoft's newest addition to the Xbox family is the seeing eyeball the Kinect AKA.. depth sensor / other high tech terms most of you will not understand. The Kinect has a bright future ahead of it, however something has happened that Microsoft originally didn't see that would happen. The code junkies out there have successfully made an open source driver for the Kinect. What does this mean? This means that with the right tools and software anyone is able to hook there Kinect to there computer and use it. YES THAT RIGHT. You will soon be able to use the Kinect (Now called OPENKinect) with some programs on your computer. From simple desktop functions to some games being made. Is this Illegal you ask? The answer is no. The Modders / Hackers (hacking isn't always bad) have not opened or directly hacked the Kinect itself. All that they have done is found a way to read the data that the Kinect sends out over the USB when it is powered on.

So now for the Show N' Tell - OPENKinect

    First off check out Kinecthacks.net

Site Dedicated to the latest news on the Kinect -- when we now are calling OPENKinect.. (Open Source) Here are just a few Examples of what has been done. Reminder this is only 2 weeks or so development.

How about this for your Christmas lights. Put on a show for your neighbors:

Here it is, Kinect! Kinect, known as code name Project Natal, will be released in November! It's safe to assume Microsoft is getting their monies worth of revenue this year with the just released Xbox 360 S and soon Kinect with all the games that will have to offer.

My view with Kinect will be the same as my response to the Wii. You will notice Kinect's Pre-Order games are based on sports and other small activites to get

Yup, Microsoft announced at the E3 Press conference Monday about the new Xbox 360. From the research I've done, It seems no unique name was giving to this console, though I guess it's safe to assume that the console would be called Xbox 360 Slim. This new Xbox 360 console will be quieter, smaller, and thinner than the Xbox 360.

    Black > White > Black

If you noticed, because I have, the new Xbox 360 went back to its original color, black.
